SA coach calls Kohli a world-class player

- JOE WILLIAMS

“They are world-class players and the way they went about proved it,” said the South African Interim Head Coach Enoch Nkwe while talking post the second day’s play of the second Test, here in Pune.

“It was a treat to watch Virat and Rahane going about in the match. These two guys have proved in the past and today it was their day,” said the coach while saying that his boys would fight back.

It is too early to come to a conclusion, but I am sure the boys will fight and put on some partnerships and make the most of it in this match,” he said.

“But I would give the credit to the Indian players the way they went about in business, and Virat is a world-class player. It was a very crucial partnership between Rahane and Kohli, especially by Kohli he led by example and a great knock by him. We have to learn from Kohli’s knock and how to get through some tough periods which we are in and apply our selves mentally and execute and we keep believing in our processes and come back into the game strongly.”

Talking about their attack, the coach said that they bowled a bit wide, and by doing this.

“We allowed the batters to get in. But I would give the credit to the two batsmen Rahane and Kohli they batted very well.”

We will keep trying to get back into the game and that will be our plan when we come into bat tomorrow.”

We have shown in the first Test and we will try to hold on a longer period of time.”

It was very disappointing, we did have chances where we could have come back into the game, but that was not to be. But we will fight back, and the first hour of play could be crucial and if we can get those 30 or 40 minutes in the morning things will be better for us.” Mayank Agarwal, the first day’s centurian praised Kohli for his knock and said that the total will give the Indians a long rope to win this match.

Talking about his hundred yesterday (Thursday), Agarwal said he has taken a liking to this wicket as it has been here he has scored more runs in domestic cricket.“Yes, I am happy I could score a hundred yesterday and I will continue to contribute to the team in future.”Commenting on the big total Agarwal said that has given them a lot of space to attack their opponents. “the total is big and we will try to make the most of it and win the match”
