SHIV SENA DITCHES CITIZENS FOR BJP
In fact just after the authorities hacked over 2000 trees on the night of October 4, the Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said that if they are voted to power in the 2019 Maharashtra assembly election, they will catch the ‘murderers’.
“I will speak on the matter but not now. I assure you the day Shiv Sena has it’s own government, we will avenge the murderers who have killed the trees,” he said.
After promising to bring to book those responsible for murdering over 2,000 trees at Aarey last week, surprisingly, the Shiv Sena chief and his party failed to even mention Aarey in their party manifesto released on Saturday.
“Our decision to oppose the Aarey carshed stands. At the same time, every one needs to be on the same page” stated Uddhav, cryptically.
Shortly after the felling of trees commenced last week after the Bombay high court verdict on October 4, the Sena chief had said he would speak on
SENA MANIFESTO
the matter at the ‘right time’, by calling a press conference.
But on Saturday, at the press conference, the father-son duo dodged questions on the subject, indicating that the right time had not yet arrived.
The Yuva Sena president Aaditya stated, amidst several ongoing issues, empowering the farmers and youth would be the key priority of the Sena and assured that in the new regime, all farmers in the state would get crop insurance.
“Fifteen lakh graduates will be covered under the Yuva Sarkar fellowship and all loans to farmers will be waived. Additionally farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs 10,000 each,” said Aaditya.
Further he said, there would be no increase in the price of fertilisers and free self-defence training programmes would be conducted in all public schools. Women empowerment and improving health and education infrastructure of the state would also be his key priorities, he added. "One thousand eateries will be set up in Maharashtra, completely run by women and will serve nutritious meals at Rs 10,” he added. The manifesto also mentions, power tariffs will be slashed up to 30 per cent for the first 300 units consumed and backward communities will be provided reservation in various employment sectors. Shiv Sena ally BJP is yet to release its manifesto, while the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party alliance did so on October 7.
