Teen alleges acid attack by principal
Three staffers of alma mater were also allegedly party to the attack, says complaint
In a shocking incident, a 16year-old engineering student sustained serious injuries after she was allegedly subjected to an acid attack by the principal and other staffers of her alma mater near Kanjurmarg on Sunday morning.
The girl was rushed to the hospital and discharged after treatment.
Parksite Police have booked the four accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating the matter. No arrests have been made thus far.
According to the police, on Sunday morning, the girl was on a morning walk near Bajiprabhu Deshpande Garden, when all of a sudden, the principal of her alma mater allegedly flung acid on her chest and legs and fled. The complaint says, the principal was accompanied by a male teacher and two other school staffers, who forcibly held her and were accomplices in the crime.
Soon after the incident, the teen's father rushed her to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar and later to Sion Hospital, from where she was discharged after initial treatment.
The father has claimed the principal and others who attacked his daughter had nursed a grudge against her ever since she had filed a police complaint against a teacher for punishing her.
A case was registered against the four men under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for voluntarily throwing or attempting to throw acid (section 326B), punishment for criminal intimidation (section 506 II) and common intention (section 34). Senior Inspector Kalpana Pawar of Parksite police station said, "A case has been registered and we are investigating the matter. The CCTV camera footage of the area is being scrutinised to confirm the allegations made by the teen victim."
