Sunny Singh is re-teaming with his Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 director Luv Ranjan for the romcom Jai Mummy Di, which also stars his co-star from the film Sonnalli Seygall. Speaking about his new movie, Sunny said, “It is good that my films are releasing back-to-back. I did a cameo in Pati Patni Aur Woh and now my film as solo lead Jai Mummy Di is set to release. There is no pressure as such because I always think about the film I am working on and what is next. There is a positive nervousness...I am also excited because I am working with people whom I know and am waiting for viewers to watch it. I have been getting offers, which I will announce soon.”

His last film as the lead, Ujada Chaman, was embroiled in controversy recently. Addressing the issue Sunny said, “I was very happy about Ujada Chaman...there were few controversies around it but that is fine. When two films with similar subjects release at same time, such things happen. I had a hearty laughed about it. What makes me is that we were the ones to take up those roles. It was an important character for me. I always believe if there is something raw or real I would want to do that. I had said yes to this after reading just 10 pages of the script. You don’t think if it will work or not, later once you are done with the film you think about the rest of the things. It feels disheartening if someone says that you have done a bad job. Thankfully, I have not faced such situation.”

But the film did not do well, was is it disappointing? “There was Ayushmann’s film competing with us. He has delivered many good films, which made a huge difference. But, when we met we didn’t talk about it at all. At the end of the day we all are actors. I received good reactions personally and that is what I wanted. Ours was a small budget film, if only one film were to release, things would have been different. I knew from the beginning the movie won’t be a huge hit. It was my solo hero project and I happy with kind of success it received. Some people do big films but still don’t get respect, I received that and there is nothing bigger than that.”

Sunny feels Aakash Vaani was a milestone in his life and says, “Life changed the day I got Aakash Vaani. I didn’t know if I would get that film. I remember once Akshay Kumar sir had said there was a time when his 15 films did not do well...I think that is what makes you actor. I have got 25 years to become a star, but I have an entire life to become an actor, so I will love to explore. There some of my contemporaries who had given flops but are now delivering hits...you succeed after facing failure in life. I am lucky that I have reached here, when you want to be a hero, your job is to work hard. I want to be calm and not think about such things...if you keep thinking about your failure, it brings negativity. I like Ajay Devgn sir, Akshay sir, they have their own charm and I like that about them.” So what’s next for Sunny? “I have a few offers, but cannot speak about them now. I want to do an action comedy, even drama or psychological thriller would do. I don’t mind doing cameos and ich I have done that in De De Pyaar De and Pati Patni Aur Woh. I have been offered some web shows as well, but will only take up if it’s real or a biopic.”
