Dabboo’s annual calendar is a collector’s item and is eagerly awaited with bated breath by the Bollywood fraternity. And the wait is now over as the ace photographer is back with his new offering. This year the calendar is coming out a month late due to the sad demise of Dabboo’s mother. Speaking about his calendar, Dabboo says, “My Calendar is a platform to showcase my work. I aesthetically shoot them like they have never been seen before and I style the picture the way I imagine. I experiment with lighting, angles, background and location. The stars often do co-operate with my experimentation and fortunately, I do manage to get my ‘first times’ out of each star. The
calendar has a shelf value of a year and its very important for the image to tell a story with in itself. This is one product I can truly call my form of art.”
Dabboo believes photography is a blend of art and business. “I am as excited about my job as I was on my first day. The fire is still there. I breathe photography. I am always looking for new things to incorporate in shots. It’s in my blood stream now,” he says.
The calendar features Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and many more.
“Mr Bachchan, Shah Rukh, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan have featured in 19 out of 21 calendars. Akshay has featured in 17 of them. 101 Actors have featured in my calendars since 2000,” Dabboo adds.
This year marks 21 years of his annual calendars and 25 years in the industry.
