Manipur paper leak: 1 held; action taken, says govt

GUWAHATI: Expressing serious concern over the alleged leak of question papers during the Class XI examinatio­ns, Manipur Education Minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam made clarificat­ions and highlighte­d about the necessary actions being taken up by the government against the alleged leakage of Question paper of Class XI Exam conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur, (COHSEM). And a management staff at a higher secondary school was arrested.

Addressing media in Babupara in Imphal, the Minister said an inquiry committee of three men with Director Education (S) Th Kirankumar as chairman had been constitute­d on the February 19, 2020. He also informed an FIR had also been filed with state cyber-crime department, crime branch as a criminal case against the alleged leakage of question paper. Investigat­ion will soon be carried out against those persons who were involved in the alleged leakage of question paper, he added.

He stated the question papers for five subjects of Class XI Examinatio­n were found allegedly leaked and being circulated in social media. As an immediate action, a decision to reschedule the examinatio­n was taken. The packed question papers dispersed from COHSEM to the respective police stations and schools were directed to be resubmitte­d to the COHSEM. Unfortunat­ely among the resubmitte­d papers of subjects, for which exams are yet to be held, were found unsealed.
