PIL for probe into Cong deal with China
NEW DELHI: A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court for a probe into the agreement signed by the Congress with the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing in 2007 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Preventon) Act or by the CBI under supervision of the SC, for allegedly compromising India’s security.
The petitioners are advocate S K Jha(26) of Delhi and Goan journalist Ignatius Rosario Rodrigues(44) from Margao, the founder and Editor-inchief of online news portal ‘GoaChronicle’. They have made the Congress, its president Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi, who were holding the position of the president and general secretary at the time of the agreement. They have also made the Centre respondent No 4.
They said they decided to move SC after getting no response from Rahul to the demand made by Rodrigues in his GoaChronicle on 18.06.20 to make public the 2007 pact as also during panel discussions on June 19 and 22 on the ‘Republic TV’. They as such accuse the Congress of snatching the RTI guaranteed to every Indian even when it concerned the national interest.
They have filed the writ petition under Article 32 to protect right to life and personal liberty under Article 21, seeking to bring transparency and clarity about the agreement, signed by the Congress when it was in power at the Centre with the Communist Party of China (CPC), de-facto government of China.
