Punjab govt bans public gatherings

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government issued revised guidelines on Monday, completely disallowin­g public gatherings and restrictin­g social gatherings to five attendees and marriages and other functions to 30 instead of the current 50. It asked police to register FIRs against those violating the curb on public gatherings.

Doctor drives tractor to ferry

body: A Telangana doctor stepped forward to ferry the body of a COVID-19 victim after a civic driver refused to take it to the burial ground on Sunday. "Yesterday, a COVID-19 patient died at the Peddapalli isolation ward. So it was the first death in our district. Some of our employees were unaware of the protocols. Though they are trained, none dared to attend the body," said Dr Sriram, who went beyond his call of duty.

Up north in Himachal, the scene was much brighter. The state did not report any cases on Monday and the tally remained at 1,213, said health officials. The hill state has reported nine fatalities till date.
