Tantrik, 3 of family held for killing 2 kin in Kalyan

MUMBAI: Four members of a family were arrested by police for allegedly killing two others from the family, a 50-yearold man and his 72-year-old mother in Kalyan on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Pandarinat­h Tare, 50, and his mother Chandubai Tare, 72. The arrested accused have been identified as Chandubai's niece Kavita Tare, 27, nephew Vinayak Tare, 22, nephew, her 17-yearold grandson and the tantrik, Surendra Patil, 35, who worked as asecurity guard in a private company. Police said the incident took place at Atali village, Ganesh Nagar, in Bhoir Compound. The accused trio and the tantrik were performing black magic from Saturday night until early morning on Sunday.

Pritam Chaudhari, Assistant Police Inspector, Khadakpada Police Station, "Prima facie, we have learnt that the accused trio had been in contact with Patil for many days and he had told them that Kavita had ' supernatur­al powers', Pandarinat­h and Chandubai had the 'devil's power' in their bodies."

Chaudhari further said, during the probe, it emerged that Patil had instructed them that Saturday was a good night for black magic. They smeared turmeric powder on Pandarinat­h and Chandubai's bodies, to remove their 'evil' powers and beat them up with bamboo sticks, which led to their deaths. A neighbour alerted police about the incident.

Central Railway Secondary School and Jr. College, Kalyan has topped the Interschoo­l Online Competitio­ns by winning 7 prizes in various competitio­ns for different age groups.

Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) under the Hub of Learning initiative conducted a programme titled “Spectrum 2020” among affiliated schools of Mumbai region.

These competitio­ns were hosted by a lead school DAV Public School, Airoli among CBSE schools of Mumbai region. Under these online competitio­ns of painting, poster making, recitation, essay writing and musical videos for different age group were held. Central Railway School has won seven prizes to top the event along with DAV Public School, Airoli.

In recently declared results of 10th and 12th CBSE board exams, Central Railway School children excelled and brought laurels to the school. Master Sanchit Jadhav, son of Goutam Jadhav a GRP staff topped in the school securing 97.6% marks in 10th CBSE board exams of 2020. .

The Principal and Senior officers of Central Railway, Mumbai Division congratula­ted all the winners and wished for better prospects in future.
