Vardy wins EPL Golden Boot despite final day heartbreak

-

JAt stumps on Day 3, West Indies are in shambles, 389 runs away from winning the Test, with 2 wickets down. Stuart Broad took 6/22 from seven overs bowled in both innings on Sunday.

And, with a touch of luck in his final 11 balls, he could have easily finished the day with a seventh and polished off the 500 milestone before amie Vardy won the Premier League Golden Boot for the first time in his career on Sunday despite a poor end to the season for Leicester City that saw them miss out on the Champions League.

England forward Vardy, 33, became the oldest player to win the award for the league's top scorer after netting 23 goals, one more than Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Southampton's Danny Ings.

Meanwhile, Chelsea ensuring a top four finish with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

going to bed.

That’ll have to wait till England return today and West Indies resume their innings at 10/2.

The forecast says it’ll rain.

Even if that is the case, and Monday is a washout, the 399 the Windies need to win is irrelevant now. The only way they can retain the Wisden Trophy is by surviving for anywhere from three to six sessions: they need rain, lots of it, and/or something truly astonishing.

Meanwhile, Openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley consolidated England's lead and further strengthened their grip on the game as the hosts reached 86/0 at Tea.

England were leading West Indies by 258 runs and at the break Burns was batting on 38 with Sibley reaching 40.

West Indies wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich was forced to leave the field early in the afternoon session after being hit on the face by a Shannon Gabriel snorter. The red cherry burst through his gloves and struck him on the lower part of his face.

Uncapped stumper Joshua Da Silva replaced Dowrich behind the stumps after Shai Hope could not continue doing the job for long.

But the second session, like the first, belonged to England as Burns and Sibley looked to first graft and then put the bad balls away as the tourists lost steam.

Jason Holder used as many as five bowlers but none, including Kemar Roach, worked as the hosts pulled away in style. There was turn on the wicket as Tea neared with Rahkeem Cornwall coming close with an LBW appeal and Roston Chase beating

Burns a few times, but the openers stood their ground.

Earlier, Stuart Broad grabbed six wickets as England put themselves in the driver's seat to win the three-match Test series, level at 1-1 at present. He also scored 62 in the first innings.
