Gushing water swallows 151-year-old church
The 151-year-old St Paul's CSI church collapsed in the Chungam Kuruvelly Padasekharam area of Alappuzha district, Kerala, on Tuesday morning after a bund breached.
Since the church was located in the middle of two paddy fields, water entered the structure due to the breach of the bund following which it collapsed.
No injuries or deaths have been reported due to the incident. The locals had already shifted to a safer place as authorities had warned them about the breach beforehand.
Meanwhile, the toll in the landslip in Idukki district rose to 52 with three more bodies being recovered from the debris.
Landslide in Uttarakhand
Several shops were damaged and a road blocked after a landslide occurred on the Badrinath national highway in Chamoli district, following heavy rainfall. A police post was also damaged. No one suffered injuries.
Uprooted trees and electricity poles also contributed to the blocking of the road. Earlier on Sunday, a landslide occurred at Uttarakhand's Lam Bagar in Chamoli district that affected traffic on the Badrinath national highway.

Assam’s troubles mount The flood situation in Assam deteriorated on Tuesday with nearly 14,000 people across three districts being affected, an official bulletin said. On Monday, over 9,200 persons were suffering due to the deluge across four districts.
Relief in Uttar Pradesh
Meanwhile, the flood situation in Uttar Pradesh improved further as three districts were dropped from the list of affected places, officials said.
On Monday, a total of 19 districts in the state were listed as affected by the flood, said state officials.
