HIGHEST 81 GALLANTRY AWARDS TO J&K POLICE

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have bagged the highest 81 of the 215 gallantry awards getting the police medals for gallantry on the eve of the Independen­ce Day while total 926 police personnel have been decorated with different medals — 631 for meritoriou­s service and 80 awarded President's police medals for distinguis­hed service.

The CRPF bagged the second highest 55 medals for gallantry, followed by 23 to Uttar Pradesh Police, 16 to Delhi Police, 14 to Maharashtr­a Police and 12 to the Jharkhand Police. Maximum 123 awards have gone for gallant action in J&K, 29 for gallant action in the naxal-hit area and eight for action in the North East region.

Those who bagged the prestigiou­s President’s police medal for distinguis­hed service include Aijaz Rasoo Ganai from J&K, Additional DGP and Police Wireless DGP Retesh Munni Kumaarr from Pune, Additional DGP (Admin) and DGP Sanjeev Kumar Singhal, Deputy SP Mrs Sushma Shailendra Chavan from Pune, Police SI Vijay Londhe from Nashik, and Assistant SI Ganesh Mehtras from Latur, Maharashtr­a. Two bagging the medal from Rajasthan are Sanjay Kumar Shrotriya, DIGP, CM Seecurity and Sunil Dutt, ADGP Telecommun­ication.

rious service awards. They include Asst IG Vinayak Badrinaray­an Deshmukh, Pune DCP Shirish Sardeshpan­de, SP Tushar Chanddra Kant Doshi, Railway Police DSP Narendra Kumar Kisanrao Gaikwad, Pune ACP Sunil Bhagwan Yadav, and SRPF Commandant Mohd Ilyas Mohd Sayeed Shaikh, Aurangabad.
