Negligence killed Chetan, will file FIR: AAP’s Sanjay Singh

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh on Sunday said he will file an FIR over the death of the UP’s cabinet minister Chetan Chauhan. Samajwadi Party MLA Sunil Singh Sajan had claimed in the House the PGI staff had called the minister with his first name, asked his profession and spoke to him rudely even after being told he was a cabinet minister. “Chauhanji died because of such disrespect not because of Corona,” alleged Sajan who had shared the hospital ward with the minister.

“It is really sad Yogiji yesterday called people of UP ‘namoona’ and disrespected them. He should apologise to the people. The state is facing the fury of coronavirus. I will file an FIR over the murder due to carelessness of late minister Chetan Chauhan at PGI,”

Sanjay Singh tweeted in Hindi.

The AAP leader’s tweet came a day after CM Yogi Adityanath remarked against him in the Assembly. Without naming Singh, Yogi had said, “Some ‘namoonas’ come here and ask us what we have done for the people of the state? They want to talk about the situation in UP, but steer clear of talking about the condition of Delhi.”

NEW DELHI: Former Union minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday welcomed a joint resolution of 6 national and regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir, and appealed to them to stand "resolutely" behind their demand for restoration of special status of the erstwhile state. “Salute the unity and courage of six mainstream Opposition parties who came together yesterday (Saturday) to fight the repeal of Article 370," tweeted the former Union minister.

Six political parties, including the National Conference and its archrival PDP, issued the resolution making clear there can be "nothing about us without us", a statement which clearly indicated the Centre has to take into confidence people of J&K before implementing any constitutional change.

In a series of tweets in both English and Hindi, Chidambaram said, "I appeal to them to stand resolutely behind their demand. Ignore the uninformed criticism of self-styled nationalists who do not read history but try to re-write history."

He said, "How will the government resolve the Naga issues if it is against making Special Provisions?"
