NGOs support BMC, launch mobile X-ray van

- DIPTI SINGH |

As part of the Mission Zero initiative that was launched by BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in June, Bhartiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS) in association with Desh Apnayen and CREDAI-MCHI launched mobile digital X-Ray vans that will carry out the preliminary examination of patients. These mobile digital X-Ray vans will go door to door and examine suspected COVID-19 patients.

The doctors present in the vans will immediately give necessary advice to suspected patients during the screening. The campaign is being carried out to ensure that no COVID-19 patients escape.

The project has been initiated on a Public Private Partnership basis, and NGOs and organisations like the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana, in association with CREDAI-MCHI, Desh Apanayen and United Ways have come forward to support the civic body in its battle against the deadly coronavirus.

"We are thankful to BJS and other NGOs and organisations who have come together to support BMC in this fight. These initiatives are of great help. Early detection helps in providing early treatment, which in tur n saves life. Those found symptomatic will be shifted from their residence and allotted beds in dedicated COVID-19 hospitals as soon as they test positive. Those found asymptomatic yet positive or have mild symptoms will be put under home quarantine or shifted to institutional isolation centres. As its name suggests, Mission Zero aims to bring down to zero the number of positive cases in the city," said a BMC official.
