Thane cop returns home after 70-day long battle against Covid

An assistant sub-inspector from Thane who had tested positive, recovered from the virus after 70 days. After fighting a long battle against COVID-19, the official retur ned back to his house on Friday. He underwent medical treatment at one of the leading hospital in Mumbai.

"Bhagatrao Salunkhe, 55, from Rabodi police station in Thane had tested positive on June 17, after witnessing symptoms of coronaviru­s. Accordingl­y, he was admitted to in one of the private hospitals in Thane. However, Salunkhe's health deteriorat­ed, which lead to him change two hospitals in Thane, for better treatment. Despite changing hospitals, his health worsened further and he was then shifted to one of the hospitals in Mumbai," said a police of ficial from Thane.

Nor mally, Covid patients recover within a minimum of two to three weeks else the maximum period is six weeks. However, in Salunkhe's case the fight against the virus ended after a long span of 70 days. Following his recovery, he was discharged from the hospital on August 27.

"I thank all my senior officials who took efforts for the better ment of my health while I was fighting against the Covid-19 at the hospital. However, due to my will-power, I have managed to recover and finally come back home after more than two months," infor med Salunkhe.

According to the infor mation provided by the Thane police commission­erate; so far 1067 police of ficials from Thane has been tested positive. Out of which 978 of ficials has been recovered, while 16 officials has lost their lives.
