After Kangana Ranaut takes a dig at Mumbai and its police, Bollywood celebs laud both

- RENUKA, KANGANA'S WAR OF TWEETS

Shortly after Kangana Ranaut took a jibe at Mumbai, tweeting that the city feels like Pakistan occupied Kashmir and calling Mumbai Police a big sham in the name of a police force, a section of Bollywood has come out to strongly defend the city as well as its cops.

Dia Mirza tweeted: “Mumbai meri Jaan. lived and worked here for almost twenty years. Moved here to live on my own at age 19. This city embraced me with open arms and kept me safe. A cosmopolitan, inclusive, diverse, beautiful city.” “Mumbai Hindustan hai,” Riteish Deshmukh wrote in Hindi.

Meera Chopra expressed: “I am a Delhi girl and ive been living in #mumbai since last 5 years now. I can proudly say that this is the safest city and @MumbaiPolice is by far the most helpful police force ive seen!”

“You know what’s special about my city Bombay/Mumbai? You could spew venom on it but it will still welcome you with open arms. Learn magnanimity from this city,” filmmaker Hansal Mehta wrote, in a clear address to Kangana without naming her.

“This City has seen everything from Riots, Serial Blasts, Underworld...Just consider the density, everyday threats to the city, the Chaos...but still this is how most of the Mumbai Police is, dignified and respectful! This is my Mumbai! No other place like this! #MumbaiMeriJaan,” shared director Vasan Bala.

Maanvi Gagroo posted: “City of choice. No place I'd rather be. I love Mumbai.” Singer Rekha Bhardwaj wrote: “I always say i LOVE AMCHI MUMBAI.”

Urmila Matondkar wrote: “Maharashtra is cultural n intellectual face of India..land of Great Shivaji maharaj. Mumbai has fed millions of Indians n given them Name Fame n Glory.Only ungrateful can compare it with POK..Shocked n disgusted.”

Praising Mumbai Police, Swara wrote: “As an outsider, an independent working woman & resident of #Mumbai for the past decade. Just want to say that Bombay is one of easiest & safest cities to live & work in. Thank you @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice for your relentless efforts & service to keep #AamchiMumbai safe.”

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra also joined in. “How do we feel about comparing our native to Pak occupied Kashmir? This is utterly distasteful. I’ve had a show disrupted in Surat, canceled in Baroda I never compared those cities to Islamabad or called them Dhokla Mafia. TAKE ANY ESTABLISHMENT ON YES but this is ridiculous...” he wrote on Twitter.

While most celebs stopped at praising Mumbai and its police, some took a direct jibe at Kangana Ranaut. Director Anil Sharma tweeted: “Threats by any one he may b leader #sanjayraut or any one is not acceptable.. must b condemns, same way if @KanganaTeam says that ‘Mumbai is feeling like Pakistani occupied kashmeer’ is not acceptable ..Mumbai most safest city , fulfilled dreams of many including @KanganaTeam.” In another tweet he wrote: “@KanganaTeam u may hv some issue with a politician but u can’t comment wrong for #MUMBAI. it’s hurting, mumbai belongs to every one, a city which has maximum freedom, Ye sapnon ki nagree hai, sabke sapne pura karti hai, aap bhi Jo hain mumbai ki vajha se hain , SO #RESPECTMUMBAI.” —IANS

Renuka Shahane slammed Kangana Ranaut for comparing Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), and this led to a mini war of tweets on Friday between the two actresses. “Dear @KanganaTeam Mumbai is the city where your dream of becoming a Bollywood star has been fulfilled, one would expect you to have some respect for this wonder ful city. It's appalling how you compared Mumbai with POK!” wrote Renuka, on her verified Twitter handle.

Kangana then replied to Renuka from her official account with the tweet: “Dear @renukash ji when did criticising the poor administration of a government became equal to the place being administered , I don't believe you are that naive, were you also waiting like a blood thirsty vulture to pounce and get a piece of my meat ? Expected better from you."

Replying to Kangana’s tweet, Renuka shared that she is all for criticising the government but that comparing Mumbai to PoK was in bad taste.

“Dear @KanganaTeam I am all for criticizing Govts. But ‘ why Mumbai is feeling like POK’ seems to me like a direct comparison between Mumbai & POK. Your comparison was really in bad taste. As a Mumbaikar I did not like it! Maybe it was naive of me to expect any better from you,” Renuka said.

To which, Kangana said: “POK is also Hindustan only governments differ and that makes all the difference, slow day huh.” —IANS
