Rashmi Shukla appointed as ADG of CRPF

- SANJAY JOG

Days after Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Subodh Jaiswal joined as the director general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Rashmi Shukla, who is the second highestranking officer, has opted for the Central deputation. She has been appointed as the additional director general of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Shukla, who is an IPS officer of 1988 batch, was last year promoted to the director general of police rank and appointed as the DG Civil Defence. The state government had split the Home Guards and Civil Defence in to two and appointed as the DG Civil Defence. Shukla was reportedly not happy on her new assignment and had urged the state government to relieve for central deputation.

Shukla was one of the contenders for the post of Maharashtra DGP. At present, the state government has given an additional charge to Hemant Nagrale and it was in the midst of getting approval from the Centre for the fresh appointment. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in a letter dated February 8 to the state Chief Secretary asked to relieve Shukla immediately "to enable her to take up her assignments at the Centre". "Smt. Rashmi Shukla, IPS (MH:88) has been appointed as Additional Director General (Level-15 of pay matrix) in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on deputation basis from the date of joining the post and upto 30.06.2024 i.e, date of her superannuation or till further orders whichever is earlier," read the letter.
