Mamata ‘confident’ on last day of Assembly session

- Says will return with larger mandate

On Monday, the last day of the West Bengal budget session, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “I will be back with a larger mandate,” before the photo session.

A day after PM Modi cried foul against Mamata for not co-operating with the BJPled central government over implementing the PM Kisan Nidhi Samman properly in West Bengal, the CM in the assembly alleged Modi made false statements.

“Narendra Modi is making false statements. We are still making survey on those farmers who want to get enrolled in the central government schemes. I have not seen such a cruel central government before. Since the poll is nearing, it seems there is nothing else for BJP but Bengal. For this election, all the BJP leaders and ministers are visiting the state, which they do not even know,” said Mamata, adding she would come back to the power with a larger mandate.

The war of words between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the main opposition BJP continued as the CM at an event in Netaji Indoor Stadium announced doles to the

local clubs and pension facilities to former sportsperson in the state, in addition to jobs for the youths.

Taking a pot shot again at the Centre, Mamata said the PM during his visit to West Bengal after the devastating cyclone Amphan had announced a relief pachage of just Rs1,000 crore.

Talking to FPJ, state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said: “The TMC supremo is aware that the Trinamool Congress is not coming back to power. Just to woo the voters she is announcing doles and showing she is concerned about the state’s development.”
