6 of family among 10 killed in 3 UP road mishaps

LUCKNOW: Eight people, including 6 of a family, died and 14 injured in 3 separate accidents in which several vehicles collided on Lucknow-Agra Expressway early on Saturday morning due to dense fog. 6 of a family were killed when their car rammed into a stationary truck near Kannauj under Taalgram police station. One of the deceased, who was driving the car, could not see the stationary truck due to dense fog and rammed into it. The impact was such that all occupants of the car died on the spot The deceased were residents of Kakori in Lucknow. The family was going to Jaipur. In the second accident, 5 vehicles collided with one another near Bharthana in Etawah on Lucknow-Agra Expressway. 2 persons were killed and 12 injured. In the third collision near Firozabad, 15 vehicles collided due to dense fog. About half a dozen people received injuries. A govt official said before people could get out of their vehicle after the collision, another would hit them and it continued till a roadblock was put up to warn drivers. This led to heavy traffic jam on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. Traffic was diverted to clear the route.

The Rajasthan Informatio­n Commission has imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the superinten­dent of Maharana Bhupal government hospital in Udaipur for not providing informatio­n to an applicant under the RTI Act, sources said on Saturday. The commission also slapped penalties of Rs10,000 on the commission­er of Baran Nagar Parishad and Rs5,000 on village developmen­t officer of Goyenda in Kota for the violation of RTI norms, they said.
