BJP’s end will be worse than Trump’s: Didi

Babul Supriyo says he’s ‘ashamed’ to hear derogatory words from Mamata

- ARITRA SINGHA / Kolkata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that the fate of BJP will be ‘worse’ than that of Donald Trump. Addressing a rally at Dunlop ground at Hooghly district where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed the public on February 22, Banerjee on Wednesday called Modi ‘dangabaaz’ (rioter).

“The demon and rioter Modi is alleging that women are not safe in Bengal. But they are connecting a young girl’s name in the coal scam. Modi spoke of industries but why did he fail to reopen the Dunlop industry? In 2016, I had written to the BJP-led central government that TMC wants to restart this industry, but I was not allowed,” claimed the TMC supremo. Mamata’s sharp attacks came a day after her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira Naroola was questioned at her residence by the CBI in connection to the coal scam.

Calling herself a goalkeeper, Mamata challenged that BJP cannot even score a single goal in the upcoming Assembly polls. “A wounded tiger is more dangerous. We have 20 lakh workers and you can arrest us all. Once the BJP gets defeated in the West Bengal polls, they (BJP) will disappear from India. They call us Tolabaaz (extortionists), but they are Dangabaaz (rioters). Gujarat will not rule Bengal but Bengal will again take the charge of Bengal,” claimed the TMC supremo.

Following a tussle between BJP cadres and police, BJP West Bengal observer Kailash Vijaywargiya rushed to the spot and stated following ‘lathi-charge’ by the police, nearly 22 BJP members were seriously injured.

In another incident in the Amherst Street area of Central Kolkata turned into a battlefield as the ruling Trinamool Congress workers agitated during the BJP’s roadshow. According to BJP sources, the TMC workers started hurling stones, shoes, and bricks at the open vehicle where defected leaders like Suvendu Adhikari, Rajib Banerjee, and BJP MP Arjun Singh were campaigning for the saffron camp.
