Chhattisgarh constable alleges atrocities by seniors, resigns

- AVDHESH MALLICK/ Raipur

Chhattisgarh police, which continuously witnessed suicides in armed forces, is again under attack of netizens when a constable of Chhattisgarh police levelled serious allegations of atrocities against IPS and senior rank officers.

Ujjawal Diwan, a constable posted in Dhamtari, uploaded a video on the internet alleging senior officers including the SP is continuously harassing him for turning down the request of Chhattisgarh Government, which says all government officials have to donate a day’s salary to CM’s fund to fight Covid 19.

“I was living under continuous harassment of senior officers and was transferred to a highly affected naxal area. I have received a call from my next duty station to join immediately, when it is known lockdown is in force and there is no transportation available,” the jawan complained.

“SP is not listening to me. As I am facing injustice, I have resigned, even my resignation letter has not been accepted,” he alleged.

The jawan alleged that senior police officials are harassing their juniors, leading to suicides in the Chhattisgarh police forces. The trained jawans are forced to serve in bunglows of police officials and do menial jobs, which is illegal, he alleged.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhamtari, BP Raj Bhanu told FPJ that the allegations were baseless and his transfer is part of administrative practices.

Actually, the constable is habituated of creating mess and playing politics, he is doing Netagiri, SP R Bhanu said.

However, a probe is ordered. There is no provision in police of taking conditional resignation. Thus, his application was not accepted, the SP added.
