MINISTER’S CAR IS ATTACKED

The post-poll violence in West Bengal continues unabated, even though 16 political cadres have already lost their lives; the violence again manifested on Thursday when bricks were hurled at Union Minister V. Muralidhar­an’s car in West Midnapore. The minister, along with former West Bengal chief Rahul Sinha, was visiting the families of the deceased cadres when bricks and bamboo sticks were hurled at the BJP convoy, leaving a few BJP cadres and journalist­s injured. “TMC goons were involved in the attack. We will file a police complaint. The attack was well orchestrat­ed and took place in front of the police. The Mamata Banerjee government is not taking steps to curb the violence,” said the Union Minister.

MP CURFEW TILL MAY 15

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday extended the state-wide Janata cur few till May 15. Teams have been tasked with the responsibi­lity of tracking down each Covid-19 patient in the state by then. According to MP's Directorat­e of Health Ser vices, the state had 89,244 active cases of Covid-19 as of May 5.

TOTAL SHUTDOWN IN KERAL A:

Kerala has sdeclared a complete statewide lockdown from Saturday until May 16 in the wake of a relentless spike in Covid infection. During the 9-day complete lock down, government offices will remain closed while only essential ser vices will be allowed. Banks and insurance offices will work from 10 am to 1 pm. All shops selling non-essential items will also remain closed, along with other establishm­ents such as entertainm­ent venues, malls, gyms and places of physical activity, which are already shuttered.
