Hussey negative, Saha positive again

NEW DELHI: Former Australia internatio­nal and CSK batting coach Michael Hussey has recovered from COVID-19 and is likely to fly back home from Chennai on Sunday. However, India Test keeper Wriddhiman Saha has again tested positive and remains in isolation with an eye on joining the squad bio-bubble in Mumbai on May 25.

TT player Sathiyan donates to fight virus

CHENNAI: Indian table tennis player G Sathiyan on Friday said that he was donating a sum of Rs one lakh to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund in its fight against the COVID19 pandemic. "It is really heart wrenching to see what's happening around in our countr y with people suffering a lot and losing their loved ones ever yday. It is time to support each other and fight this pandemic together. I hereby donate a sum of Rs 1 lakh to TN CM's Public relief fund," he wrote on Twitter.

Athletes Irfan, Chitra test negative

NEW DELHI: Race walker KT Ir fan, middle and long-distance athletes PU Chitra, Sandeep Kumar, and para-athlete Mariyappan are among the 21 athletes who have tested negative for coronaviru­s, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) informed on Friday. Hockey players Chinglense­na and Vivek Sagar are also among those who have tested negative for COVID-19 af ter repeat RT PCR tests was done on the athletes.

ITTF ties up with Stupa

NEW DELHI: The Internatio­nal Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has entered into a tie-up with an Indian start-up company, Stupa Sports Analytics to provide Artificial Intelligen­ce (AI)enabled real-time match and practice solutions to leading players in all its 226 member associatio­ns. An agreement has been inked between ITTF and Stupa Analytics, according to a release issued by the company.

Japan to expand virus emergency

TOK YO: Japan is set to further expand a coronaviru­s state of emergency, currently in Tokyo and five other prefecture­s, to nine areas as the government is determined to hold the Olympics in just over two months. Japan has been struggling to slow the infections ahead of the Games. The three additions include Japan's northern island state of Hokkaido, where the Olympic marathon will be held, as well as Hiroshima and Okayama in western Japan.

Proteas to tour West Indies in 11 years

JOHANNESBU­RG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Friday confirmed the Proteas men's tour to West Indies following months of positive engagement with Cricket West Indies (CWI). It will be the South Africans' first bilateral tour to the Caribbean since 2010, followed by a tri-series in 2016 that also featured Australia.
