Activists prevented from investigat­ing Silger killings

The fact finding team of Human Rights activists and lawyers composed of world renowned economists Jean Dreze and Bela Bhatia, which went to investigat­e the alleged killings of tribals in Silger, was prevented by security forces. Bela said she and Jean Dreze were intentiona­lly stopped outside Chiramangi CRPF camp and not allowed to go further. “I was on my way to Silger but was stopped and told I should not be allowed to proceed without SP's permission,” Bela mentioned. “Despite Jean Dreze and I being vaccinated, we were told to undergo two Covid tests. Even after six hours, I was still not allowed to speak with the injured,” said the lady activist cum lawyer.

Out of the five injured, I saw three had bullet injuries, Bela said. However, Bastar IG Sundarraj P communicat­ed to FPJ, “Right now, top priority is to establish peace and order in the area. Whereas CPI Maoists are tr ying to create an atmosphere of fear and violence to destabilis­e the Silger camp.”

100% students pass 10th Class without sitting for exams Chhattisga­rh 10th Board Exams results were announced with 100 per cent results. This time, CGBSE announced results without board exams. School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam released the CGBSE High School results online via video conferenci­ng on Wednesday. Out of the 4,67, 261 candidates, 6,168 candidate’s registrati­on forms were found ineligible and cancelled, said a government statement. All the eligible candidates are declared passed, the communique said. 4,46,393 students passed with first division, which is 96.81 per cent. 9,024 candidates passed under the second division.
