Trust deficit Hear, hear Scary thought

- Marcus Dabre

Ref.: ‘Trust is of the essence in medical practice’ (May 26). Medical experts on their part, have been experimenting with various drugs, including steroids and people are being turned into guinea pigs. People are now disillusioned, judging from the several, serious side effects like black fungus, yellow fungus, blue fingers, etc. That trust is broken. And now, a pharmaceutical company has launched what they call, an ‘antibody cocktail’, priced at around Rs 60,000. One gets the impression that Covid-19 is one big Cocktail!

Ref.: ‘The heart for hearing those that can’t’ by Alka Jain (May 26) was so touching. In general, our society lacks empathy for children with special needs and this is why there are so few schools for them. Yes, all school syllabi must include sign language, at least at the primary level. Cartoons like ‘Cocomelon’ have kids and parents using sign language to help specialneeds children understand. That is why the work done by Puneet is very commendable and a big salute from us!

Ref.: ‘Uber-nationalism can only push us towards a fragmented state’ by Ashutosh (May 25) made for a chillingly unsettling read. The way the Modi government at the Centre is running India, we are now in the most dangerous situation. Already in the past, we have been rocked by such threats. Look at the role of governors in states with non-BJP governments. Modi, the RSS and the BJP must not forget that nations do not progress or remain united in the name of religion - Europe is a historical example. In Europe, although Christianity is the religion, language is the basis for many countries. Think, India is a country where multiple languages are spoken. If this is not evident to the Centre, one day, India will become many independent nations, like Europe.
