Final year results of major Undergraduate (UG) programmes of the University of Mumbai (MU) maybe delayed if MU staff are continued to be disallowed from commuting by suburban train services, said MU on Thursday. Over 1.55 lakh students have appeared for the final year last semester examinations of arts, commerce and science UG programmes via online mode completed by 450 affiliated degree colleges by May 25.

Vinod Patil, director of Board of Examination and Evaluation of MU, told the Free Press Jour nal (FPJ), "Our staff involved in the examination department are not allowed currently to commute by local train services, as per the lockdown restrictions imposed by the Maharashtra state gover nment. This is causing delay in the process of for mulation of results of final year students."

Patil further added, "We have requested the state gover nment to grant permission for MU staf f to commute by local train services in order to complete result declaration work on time and avoid any delay for students."

Degree colleges affiliated to MU are currently in the process of submitting marks to the varsity for declaration of final year UG course results. Zarine Bhathena, principal of Bhavan's College, Andheri West said, "We have already submitted marks of final year last semester examinations of major courses to MU. Some exams were postponed and rescheduled due to the Cyclone Tauktae, we are in the process of submitting marks of those exams."
