MALL PRACTICE: Delhi reopens on odd-even basis
On the first day of the unlocking process from Covid induced lockdown in the national capital, passengers were seen commuting through Delhi Metro which has resumed services on Monday.
Traders also flocked to market complexes in the early hours of the day to resume work since the Delhi government permitted shops to open on an odd-even basis.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced a gradual unlocking process in the national capital. Delhi Metro was permitted to resume operations with 50 per cent capacity while shops in markets and malls were allowed to open on an odd-even basis from 10 am to 8 pm.
The commuters of the Delhi Metro appreciated the step to open it to the public. A passenger, Dhruv Singh, who travelled to Delhi from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh in the early hours of Monday, told ANI that there were less passengers in the metro.
"There are some passengers in the metro but it is not crowded. The steps taken by the Delhi government to gradually unlock are good. I feel that Delhi is slowly moving towards normal conditions," said Singh.
The Delhi government had also permitted private firms to open with 50 per cent staff. Thus, some employees of the private companies were also heading to work on Monday. Gujarat starts rebooting After more than a month of
Covid-19 restrictions, Gujarat on Monday began unlocking as effects of second Covid wave seemed to be fading away. Government offices, schools and courts reopened, expecting normalcy to return in the state.
The Gujarat gover nment has decided to allow full functioning of all its offices including the state secretariat in Gandhinagar with one hundred per cent capacity.
The schools too reopened on Monday as the new academic year began. But the government has not allowed students in these schools but only the teaching and administrative staff. For a while, education will only be in online mode.
Tamil Nadu eases curbs Easing of lockdown restrictions came into force in
Tamil Nadu on Monday with reopening of shops, including standalone outlets dealing in provision and vegetables after a two week gap, while road traffic saw a sharp increase. Government offices, including Sub-Registrar's offices, resumed work with 30 per cent employees, local markets teemed with people to buy essential commodities, while workers like electricians too got back to work here.
K'taka unlocking in line Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said that a decision on whether or not begin the process of unlocking the state, which is under a Covidinduced lockdown till June 14, will be taken only after reviewing the pandemic situation in districts.
