While many services have been allowed under the Levels of restrictions for the Break the chain, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has warned all commercial establishments to follow the COVID norms or be ready to face strict action. The civic body issued a circular on Tuesday that has provision to close the establishment for seven days if the violation is found a second time.

Surprisingly, all the shops will have to close by 10 pm, however, restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars can operate till 11 pm. Even malls will operate till 10 pm. But the restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars will operate at its 50% of capacity.

As per the circular, shops or commercial establishments will be imposed Rs 10,000 for the first violation of COVID norms. If the second violation is found, the premises will be closed for 7 days. And, if the third violation is found, the premises will be closed till the pandemic ends.

Similarly, malls will be fined Rs 50,000 for the first violation of COVID appropriate behaviour. And, for the second violation, the civic body can seal it for seven days or closed it till the pandemic ends for the third violation. The same applies to departmental stores like D Mart, Reliance Fresh, or Big Bazar. Even the marriage hall or banquet halls will have to follow the same norms.

While the trial rooms in malls will be closed, the civic body may make a surprise visit at malls on weekends for the Rapid Antigen tests. There will no entry without any commercial place from small shops to malls.
