11 dists in state clock high growth rate
Amid the threat of the spread of the new Covid-19 variants and a possible third wave in Maharashtra, 11 districts have high growth rate in patients against the weekly average of 0.07 per cent. Also, another eight districts have recorded high positivity rate against the weekly average of 2.58%. As many as 19, 44,366 were tested positive between August 22 and August 31. While Pune, Ahmednagar, Satara, Solapur and Sangli recorded 30,888 patients, the remaining 13,478 were from other districts.
In a presentation to the state cabinet that was chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Wednesday, the public health department said that Ahmednagar top the charts with a high growth rate in patients, which stands at 0.24%.
This was followed by Satara at 0.23%, Solapur at 0.23%, Sangli at 0.20%, Ratnagiri at 0.14%, Sindhudurg at 0.10%, Pune at 0.09%, Beed at 0.09%, Raigad at 0.08%, Osmanabad at 0.08% and Kolhapur at 0.07%. On the other hand, 13 districts comprising Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalna, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara and Gondia have 0% growth in patients.
The list of districts with high positivity rate include Pune at 6.15%, Ahmednagar at 4.85%, Sangli at 4.02%, Satara at 3.97%, Osmanabad at 3.56%, Sindhudurg at 3.18%, Solapur at 2.60% and Ratnagiri at 2.59%.
Till August 31, 5,90,66,902 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the state. Of which, 4,30,69,585 got their first does and 1,59,97,317 were fully vaccinated. Also, 87,36,119 were administered the vaccine at private hospitals. As per the government’s move to strengthen the health infrastructure in the state, there are now 4,80,769 isolation beds, excluding ICUs, 3,52,459 isolation beds for Covid-19 patients, 1,28,417 isolation beds for suspects, 1,21,311 oxygen beds, 36,511 total ICU beds, 14,165 ventilators, 15,81,391 PPE kits and 25,91,823 N-95 masks.
