SPEED NEWS Cong’s 10 poser on #PMDoNotCares

- —Our Bureau

NEW DELHI: The Congress used the hashtag #PmDoNotCares to fire ten questions on why the government wants to keep the PM Cares Fund out of the purview of RTI (Right to Information) to cover up its activities. Its chief spokesman and general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said the government and the media had publicised it as a "national relief fund" in which the people donated money to help the government fight the Covid pandemic. The PMO, however, told Delhi HC in an affidavit the PM Care Fund is not a fund of the government of India nor is it under the control of the Centre or the State governments and hence it is not covered by the RTI to answer any questions. If this is not a national relief fund, then the PMO should answer the following questions, the most important being why the PM Cares has not made public the report of its receipt and payments in 2020-21, Surjewala said. His posers are: First, why the word PM mentioned in its name? Second, should the PM Cares Fund not be named Modi Cares Fund if it has nothing to do with the government? Why the PM, HM and FM are its ex-officio members if it is not a government fund? Third, If it is not a government fund, why the salary of all government employees was deducted to deposit it in this fund? Fourth, Why the government donated money in this fund instead of donating to the PM National Relief Fund? Fifth, why its website is displayed on gov.in which nobody can use except the government bodies? Sixth, why the national amblem used on its website? Seventh, why did 27 Indian embassies advertised the PM Cares Fund through “closed channels, not in public domain”? Eighth, why the fund was given exemption from the FCRA, mandatory for all NGOs receiving money from abroad? Ninth, why the government give it a special category status? And tenth, why no disclosure of the foreign donations?
