In Covid scenario, Cong lambasts PM Modi’s Vista visit

- OUR BUREAU / FPJ NEWS DESK

The Congress on Monday taunted Prime Minister Modi for hiding behind the walls when lakhs were rendered homeless during a sudden lockdown and when lakhs were dying in the second Covid wave but he now finds time to inspect own “palace” being built in the Central Vista Project at Rs20,000 crore.

The Central Vista Project includes construction of a residence of the PM, next to the Parliament House where the new Parliament building is also under construction.

In a series of tweets, the Congress said it is same prime minister who did not visit the Dalit family of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, who was gangraped and died

during the poor treatment and who was even denied a dignified cremation, but finds the Central Vista so important for him.

It said the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was built during the tenure of then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to expand the health services in the country, while Modi preferred to spend Rs20,000 crore on the construction of the Central Vista. This project is so important for Modi he rushed to see his dream project immediately after returning from the US trip on Sunday.

Commenting on his late night surprise Vista inspection, a Twitterati wrote, “He (the prime minister) can visit new construction of parliament building! But he cannot visit farmers protesting (at the Delhi borders) for the past 350 days.” Another tweet likened Modi to Pt Nehru and said the former tries to immitate the first prime minister of India.
