World Boxing Championships to allow spectators
NEW DELHI: Spectators will be allowed at next month's men's world boxing championships in Serbia, the International Boxing Association (AIBA) announced on Monday, making it the first major event in the sport to welcome back fans since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The AIBA, in a statement, said that tickets have gone on sale for the October 24 to November 6 showpiece, where India will be represented by a full-strength 13-strong squad featuring Asian medal-winners like Deepak Kumar (51kg), Shiva Thapa (63.5kg) and Sanjeet (92kg).
Japanese sumo great Hakuho to retire
TOKYO: Sumo great Hakuho is retiring at the age of 36, marking the end of an era in Japanese traditional sport. The Mongolianborn Yokozuna, or grand champion, Hakuho has won a record 45 tournaments, including 16 perfect victories, which is also a record.He has decided to retire because of a right knee injury, according to Japan's NHK national television.

Mumbai City FC sign goalkeeper Nawaz
MUMBAI: Mumbai City FC have signed up goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz on a three-year contract until May 2024, the franchise announced on Monday. The 21-year-old, a product of AIFF Elite Academy, joins the defending ISL champions from FC Goa. Nawaz secured a move to FC Goa in 2018, where he featured for the club's reserve team in the I-League 2nd Division and was later handed his first team debut during the 2018-19 campaign.

The 34-year-old from Telangana, who won a bronze medal in m'n's doubles at the 2010 Asain Games in Guangzhou, China, breezed past the Odisha youngster 6-1, 6-0.
