New FOBs commissioned at Charni Road, Vile Parle stations
With an objective to provide better amenities to the suburban passengers, Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Limited ( MRVC) commissioned a foot over bridge (FOB) at Vile Parle station.
Similarly, a new FOB along with a new link way and elevated booking office was commissioned at Charni Road station.
The FOB at Ville Parle station inaugurated on Thursday, is 55 metres long and six metres wide.
"The new North FOB at Charni Road is 36 meters long and six meters wide, connecting platform number 1 to East side of MCGM Skywalk and platform number 4. For the ease of passengers, a new nine-meter long link way and an elevated booking office has been inaugurated at the north end on platform number 1 along with a stairway.
“The collective cost of these works is Rs 4.05 crore" said a railway official.
"In the second phase, connectivity from the new FOB with platform number two and three will be provided after dismantling the old north FOB" added the official.
"The new FOB at Vile Parle connects east side modified staircase and platform number 1 with the north side old FOB above platform number 1/2, 3/4 & 5/6," said spokesperson of MRVC.
" The construction work of Ville Parle Foot Over Bridge completed within 6 months, at a cost of Rs 2.8 Crores" said spokesperson of MRVC
"Including Vile Parle, total 10 FOBs have been commissioned in the Mumbai suburban section of WR in the financial year 2021-22. Four more FOBs will be completed soon including, Grant Road north FOB, Bandra north FOB, Dahisar north FOB, Vasai Road south and Bhayandar south FOB," said an officer of WR.
"In spite of the ongoing challenging times, safety of passengers has been accorded top priority and the works of FOBs, ROBs along with other amenities are being carried out at fast pace. These efforts will go a long way to control the menace of trespassing as well as combat the problems of overcrowding on bridges," the official added.
