A Palghar resident has lodged a criminal case against six people, including a man who claimed to be an officer from the Bandra crime branch, for allegedly duping him to the tune of Rs 93 lakh. The Palghar police have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the case.

According to the complaint filed by S A Ansaar, he came across one Kishore Jagtap, who claimed to be an officer from the Bandra crime branch unit, while he was looking for some financial assistance. Jagtap allegedly assured to give him a loan of Rs 50 lakh without interest, or gold, or any other valuables as guarantee. Ansaar said that Jagtap also possessed a police lathi and cap, and had a police license plate on his vehicle. Ansaar alleged that Jagtap had also shown him a photograph on his cell phone of a bag containing cash and jewellery.

We have so far arrested three persons, including Jagtap in the case,” police inspector Ajay Vasave said, adding that Jagtap has also made claims of being a police mitra and has another case of cheating registered against him in Palghar district. “We have not yet recovered any cash from him. Further investigations are underway,” he said.
