Rahul rues assault on Constitution

- OUR BUREAU / New Delhi

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday rued that India’s Constitution is not working because of which the direct assault is on dalits, minorities, tribals, jobless and small farmers.

In his homage to Dr BR Ambedkar, he said there is no meaning of the Constitution framed by him as a weapon to fight. He said the weapon is meaningless without the institution that protects the Constitution. He said: “Institutions are not in our hand as all of them are in the hands of the RSS. If the institutions are not in our hands, then the Constitution is not in our hands. The attack on the institutions began the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.”

Rahul said democracy is in chains today through control of the media, control of four top millionaires, control of politicians through Pegasus spyware. Today Pegasus, CBI, ED are controlling the political system.

Turning to BSP supremo Mayawati, he said she did not fight the Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh this time. The Congress sent her message for an alliance to let her become the chief minister, but she didn’t talk. He talked of his respect to late Kashiram who raise the voice of Dalit. But Mayawati today says she would not fight for that voice because of CBI, ED and Pegasus.

Rahul said India’s truth today is that only the people can raise their voice and until then those controlling the institutions will not allow implementation of the Constitution.

See the plight of economy, unempoyment and the time has come to fight on the path shown by Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi. There is need to walk on this path. It is a difficult task, but need to walk on the path, he added.
