48% rise in Delhi’s home isolation cases of Covid in last week

Amid an uptick in daily cases of Covid in Delhi and the positivity rate going beyond two per cent, there has been a rise of nearly 48 per cent in the number of home isolation cases here in the last one week, according to official data.

On Thursday, the number of home isolation cases stood at 574 while 325 new coronaviru­s cases were recorded with a positivity rate of 2.39 per cent.

Official sources said patients of all age groups and both working profession­als and students, are getting infected and under home isolation.

They, however, did not specify as to which age-group was particular­ly getting affected.

As the Covid positivity rate in the national capital has jumped from 0.57 per cent on April 1 to 2.39 per cent on April 14, the number of home isolation cases has shown an upward trend in the last one week.

On Thursday, Delhi reported 325 Covid cases, a marginal rise from 299 the previous day.

Delhi has continued to record an average of 201 cases daily over past seven days against the average of 120 a week ago.

44 children in Noida tested positive in last 7 days: CMO

As many as 44 children have tested positive for Covid in Noida in the last seven days, Chief Medical Officer Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma said on Friday. After a decline, the Covid infection rate is again showing an upward trend in Noida and the number of active cases has crossed the 150 mark.

MP sees 6 COVID-19 cases

The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,41,230 on Friday after the detection of six cases at a positivity rate of 0.07 per cent, while the death toll remained unchanged at 10,734, an official said.

India reports 6 deaths

NEW DELHI: Maharashtr­a accounted for five Covid deaths in 24 hours and Mizoram for one in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 949 new cases were reported till 8 am on Friday. The total infections in the country stood at 4,30,39,972, out of which 4,25,07,038 recovered while 5,21,749 succumbed to the virus. The active caseload went up to 11,191, an increase of 131 since on Thursday. Daily positivity rate is 0.26% and the weekly rate 0.25%. A total of 186.30 cr vaccine doses have been administer­ed so far under nationwide vaccinatio­n drive, 6.66 lakh of them in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, less than 40% of those eligible in 15-18 years age group have been administer­ed both doses in 10 states and UTs with Meghalaya being the last in the list with 10 per cent, according to government data.
