Jaiswal powers Our Own CC to big win

Vikas Jaiswal showed tremendous batting form, building a towering innings of an unbeaten 279 runs to power Our Own Cricket Club to a thumping 436run victory against Indian Gymkhana in a Group-B match of the MCA Dr HD Kanga knockout cricket tournament at the Matunga Gymkhana ground, on Sunday.

Matunga Gymkhana, deciding to field first, failed to contain Our Own CC batters who amassed a mammoth total of 510 for 7 wickets in 45 overs. Faced with a massive winning target the Matunga Gymkhana batting collapsed and they were bowled out for a measly 74 in 24 overs and suffered a crushing defeat.

Our Own CC innings started shakily and lost both the opening batsmen with just 35 runs on the board in the fifth over. Thereafter, No 3 batsman Jaiswal dominated the bowling and his huge 279-run knock came from just 158 balls and was studded with 38 hits to the boundary and 12 powerful sixes.

63, added a big 263-run partnershi­p for the third wicket. He later put on 106 runs with Shreyas Vaidya 56 for the fourth wicket. Matunga Gymkhana bowlers Vyom Gada 3 for 72, Mudir Bhatt 2 for 33, and Karan Gala 2 for 67 shared the wickets. Later, Our Own bowlers Prasad Rahate 3 for 6, Nikhil Shigan 2 for 11, and Viren Dhatia 2 for 19 did the damage picking up quick wickets to dismiss Matunga Gymkhana for a paltry 74 runs to complete the victory.

In another match, Alhad Barve scored an unbeaten 111 which helped Cricket Club of Andheri to register a 9wicket victory against Shastri Hall Cricket Club.
