Speaking with FPJ, public relations officer of MSEDCL Kalyan, Vijay Dudhbhate said, the suspension of electricity supply was for pre-monsoon maintenance works. "Around 92-93 per cent of residents were informed about the power cut in advance through SMS on their mobile phones. We also published a notice in the local newspaper informed about the power cuts on social media and WhatsApp groups," he said.

Meanwhile, Dombivli resident Rakesh Singh said he was unable to work on his laptop due to the power cut and was not able to complete his assignments on time.

A tax consultant from Kalyan, Sachin Hejib said, "We are already facing the scorching summer heat. Electric supply being suspended for around six hours is really a headache. Half-hour and one-hour power cuts can be understood and we can deal with it."
