Surrender passport: CBI to Anubrata

CBI officials on Tuesday asked TMC Birbhum president Anubrata Mandal to surrender his passport. According to sources, Mandal claimed he doesn’t possess a passport and the CBI officials are inquiring from the regional passport office.

According to a close aide of Mandal, in his letter citing his ill health he asked CBI to give him time till May 21.

Prayagraj: TMC seeks NHRC’s time

The 5-member TMC fact-finding team has written to the National Human Rights Commission to seek an appointmen­t over the Prayagraj incident.

The TMC delegation alleged on their visit, they found that the family of the victims had flagged several gruesome details to Prayagraj police, which were missing in the FIR. The delegation also spoke with Abhishek Agarwal, Prayagraj SP, who claimed the FIR was made based on the written statement given by the surviving family members.

BJP members, cops clash

Karunamoye­e area near Kolkata turned into a battlefiel­d after BJP youth wing cadres and leaders and police clashed during the BJP’s protest over the alleged SSC appointmen­t scam in West Bengal. BJP national youth wing president Tejasvi Surya claimed the BJP will continue with their agitation in the state despite police resistance.

“No matter how much the police create obstacles for us the BJP will not stop as several deserving youths are deprived of jobs,” said Surya.

The police used water cannons to disperse the crowd after the BJP leaders broke two of the three barricades to gherao Bikash Bhavan over the alleged appointmen­t scam in the SSC. Apart from Surya, state president Sukanta Majumdar, MPs Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato and Raju Bista were present.
