Delhi logs 1,204 new Covid cases WB prepared for fourth wave of pandemic: Hakim

‘4th wave may peak after June’

Delhi reported 1,204 fresh Covid cases and one fatality, while the positivity rate stood at 4.64 per cent, according to data shared by the health department here on Tuesday.

The infection tally in the national capital stands at 18,77,091 and the death toll at 26,169, the bulletin stated.

Gujarat on Tuesday reported 19 new cases of coronaviru­s that raised the tally of infections to 12,24,276, an official from the state health department said.

Karnataka logged 85 new COVID cases taking the total active cases in the state to 1686, stated the bulletin on Tuesday.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said that the state is witnessing a "slight" rise in COVID-19 cases, but there is "no need to panic".

Andhra Pradesh reported four fresh cases on Tuesday, latest health bulletin said.

PM to discuss with CMs situation

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief ministers on the emerging Covid situation in the country on Wednesday through video conferenci­ng, an official said.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan will make a presentati­on at the conference.

"PM Modi will interact with CMs on the Covid-related situation in the country through video conferenci­ng tomorrow at 12 noon," the official said.

BENGALURU: Experts have predicted that the Covid fourth wave may peak after June and have its effects till October, Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar said on Tuesday as he stressed on learning to live with the virus by taking precaution­ary measures like vaccinatio­n and wearing masks.

He said the prevalent variants of the virus is said to be Omicron's sublineage­s and an official report in this regard is likely in a couple of days. "IIT Kanpur has been sharing data and reports, as per a report shared by them, it (fourth wave) is likely to start from June end, but things have started a month ahead," Sudhakar said.

Kolkata Municipal Corporatio­n (KMC) Mayor Firhad Hakim on Tuesday claimed the state government is prepared to tackle fourth wave of the pandemic. Hakim also claimed that the state health department and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will state what measures to take.

“For last two years, KMC and others have been tackling the pandemic and now too, we are ready to beat the fourth wave.
