Just as marriage is important, voting is also vital: Tikeshwari

A lot of enthusiasm was seen among all cross sections of the voters during the festival of democracy under the Lok Sabha General Election 2024.

The bride, groom and their family members also do not want to be deprived of their voting rights.

From many places in the district, brides and grooms reached the polling booths to perform the marital rituals and also to fulfill the responsibi­lity of voting. Tikeshwari, going to get married, said that just as marriage is important in life, voting is also important for democracy.

The polling parties welcomed the bride from the wedding hall with a smile and wished her good luck. It was the scene at the polling station of Kalabai School in Mahasamund, where Tikeshwari Sahu had come to vote with her family. After the marriage program was fixed on April 26, the date of voting was announced due to which the marriage program was going on, at around 12 noon, Tikeshwari along with her mother Mohini Sahu, uncle Babulal Sahu, aunt Meena Sahu, sister Jharna Sahu and aunt Sushila Sahu reached the polling station. People standing outside also wished the bride and said that in this way people should be made aware about voting and democracy will be strengthen­ed only by playing the role of voting first.

Similarly, in polling centre Jamhar 01 under Assembly 40Basna, the franchise was exercised by the groom pasted in turmeric.

Under Assembly 39Saraipal­i, before the departure of the wedding procession, a groom reached the polling booth of Government Primary School, Bonda and exercised his franchise.

At the same time, in the Government Primary School building, Damodarha, the groom in wedding attire used his vote and appealed to all the voters to vote. Voting was done by Kshama Sahu and Kiran Sahu during the marriage in village Batora (Kuliya) polling station 69.
