Madugula TDP ticket allocated to Bandaru
Earlier denied the Pendurthi Assembly seat, the TDP veteran replaces Pyla Prasad, the present TDP MLA candidate, a day ahead of nominations
In a signicant development in Anakapalli Lok Sabha constituency, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership has changed its candidate in Madugula Assembly constituency just a day before the nomination ling was to begin.
Former MLA and senior TDP leader Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy was allocated the Madugula Assembly constituency ticket, replacing Pyla Prasad, the present MLA candidate from the TDP.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy said that he was informed about the conrmation of the Madugula ticket through a phone call by the TDP leadership. He was also sought support to the existing Pendurthi candidate Panchakarla Ramesh Babu from JSP.
It may be noted that Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy was not allotted the MLA ticket from Pendurthi Assembly Constituency, where he was keen on contesting from. As part of the seatsharing arrangement with the JSP and BJP, the Pendurthi seat was allotted to JSP leader Panchakarla Ramesh
Babu last month. Since then, Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy started to avoid attending party programmes, and was also reportedly not keeping well. TDP cadre from Pendurthi had staged protests demanding a ticket for him.
Recently, when TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu arrived in Gajuwaka Assembly constituency to take part in a ‘Praja Galam’ rally, he met Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy and held talks. It may be noted that YSRCP had announced Deputy Chief Minister Budi Mutyala Naidu as its candidate from Madugula earlier.
However, the seat was later allotted to the Deputy Chief Minister’s daughter Anuradha., as Mr. Mutyala Naidu was made the YSRCP’s Anakapalli Lok Sabhha candidate.
