Spread across a total area of 11,000 sqft, this four-storey home designed by Hardesh and Monica Chawla of Essentia Environments boasts of an interactive space plan and classic decor elements transcending luxury and opulence. “When we design homes, we believe it is important to ensure that it stays timeless. So, the main focus is on how the family uses this home for years to come as the needs of homes change over years. It will remain timeless only if it caters to the home owners growing and evolving needs,” share the designers. The bifurcation of the areas has been done keeping in mind both physical and mental privacy of the homeowners. The ground level has no bedrooms, it has both the formal and informal living rooms, the dining room and an extremely well-planned kitchen connected to the utility area. The stone selection and wall finishes for the entire house are in a grey and beige. Stones

made to look like leather and wall coverings made to appear as fabrics have been used interestingly. The first level is dedicated to three spacious bedrooms and a family lounge in the heart of the house. The second floor houses a gym, puja and meditation area, a home spa and three guest bedrooms. The terrace is an entertainment lounge and bar areas, sandwiched between two open terraces on either sides. Each level has basic essentials like mini pantries, laundry areas, etc. The decor elements of the home are actually impressions from across the country and around the

world. Huge mirrors, metal planters, beautiful carpets, silk flowers sourced from Banaras, Delhi, Prague and Dubai, add to the glamour. The light fixtures are a combination of Artemede, Flos, Foscarini and Moooi. The outdoors are accentuated by chemically blasted steel grey granite, artificial grass, deck wood and captivating water bodies. Water retardant furnishings used outdoors, along with artifacts, planters and sculptures make the terrace appear well manicured. “With the support of Essentia Environments’ onsite engineers and design professionals and the marvelous support and passion of the home owners, I’m struggling to think of any major challenges that came our way,” says Monica.
