What’s so special about the medium?
It has capacity not just to reach people in unexpected and surprising ways, but to effect change. As with all art, it has the capacity to open people up to a new understanding of themselves or their world. With this medium’s direct access to a broad-viewing public, chances to inspire positive change even on a small scale is higher.
Working with the medium?
I love the scope of the street, it’s an endless canvas.
The challenges?
Weather, site and bureaucracy. I can’t work when it rains. Strong wind is also an issue, especially when using chalk or pigment powders. The site challenges are generally to do with the surface and how smooth and uniform it is. The most unpredictable challenge can be bureaucracy; especially when you’re dealing with different countries, cultures and laws.
Your future plans?
There’s still a few countries where I am yet to display my talent, India is one of them. This year, I have upcoming projects in New Zealand and Europe as well as here in Australia. I’ll be producing larger, permanent works. I am also working on a series of permanent interior wall and floor 3 D artworks for people’s homes and offices.
