The Ideal Home and Garden

FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK

-

Growing up in a colonial house built for Germans, I still remember the spacious rooms and huge verandah where I have memories of playing many games with my younger sister. Strangely, the main entrance of the house used to open up to a kitchen-cum-casual dining space, to the left was living space and to the right was private areas. I invariably remember our kitchen, which was better than any other room. For me, it was the first room of our home where I have helped my mum cook by relishing her recipes. Though the allure of the kitchen obviously has a lot to do with food, but growing up, it was also the place where mum could usually be found. My mum’s kitchen was very creative not only in its aesthetics, but also in the tools that she used to cook.
