FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK

Some strange home improvement bug bit my team in January this year, and here we are, bringing out the most colourful issue, loaded with unique homes from across the world, colourful decor products, and luxurious living ideas. Recently something caught my attention, it was James Law Cybertecture’s Opod tube homes, with tiny apartments built inside a 2.5 meters diameter concrete water pipe. The unfinished internal space of the concrete pipe provides a rustic feel, while the architect fills in colours through furniture and fittings made out of recycled products.

A standout trend, apart from Ulta-Violet, includes a movement to intense colours rather than pastels - good news for bright colour lovers. From sunshine yellow to an inspired-by-nature orangey red, with a few neutrals to balance the feel, the Luxe File pages will see spaces using colours with plenty of personality. Lately we have learned to see our homes as living plus working spaces; the two worlds are separated only in our minds. Also, home-offices have become dynamic as technology has evolved. We decided to feature an inspiring and creative working environment, that will provide a style boost for your home-office space. While working on this feature, I realised that the essence is to add appropriate colour to make your work space an extension of your living space. Last but not the least, we have reviewed the 10th edition of the India Art Fair that featured new exhibition spaces, greater focus was on vernacular art, with a higher representation from Indian galleries.
