What kind of projects interest you?

Like the name of the firm suggests, our process of design is research and enquiry based. So, what would interest us the most is the opportunity to question and reinterpret established norms in design, whether it be at a macro level of planning or a micro level of materials and textures.

Celebrity homes designed by you?

In Mannat - Aaryan and Suhana Khan’s spaces in collaboration with Gauri Khan, Ranbir Kapoor’s home, Karan johar’s twin’s room and terrace, Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh’s home, Sachin Joshi’s home in collaboration with Riteish Deshmukh, Vashu and Jacky Bhagnani’s home, Neha Dubey’s home, Yana Gupta’s home.

What details do you take care of while designing celeb spaces?

Design, we believe should be like a custom tailored apparel - an intrinsic study of clients habits and idiosyncrasies, mapped over daily routines and distilled to recognise the essence of the character, then translated into the built space, accommodating all key aspects of the requirement and sense of aesthetic.

What are the usual requirements of celebrities for their homes?

Celebrities are normal people like us at the end of the day. When it comes to homes, they are distinct in their requirement of what they need to make a house, a home. Hence, each individual is unique and has his or her set of tailor-made wish lists. However, to find a common thread we would say, they do require acoustically insulated rooms, as their sleep patterns are erratic, they do need to get adequate beauty sleep. They also need almost green room like dressing areas for make up and costume trails.

If you get an opportunity to design Bachchan’s or Shah Rukh’s house, what aspects would you keep in mind?

We had the opportunity of interacting with Shahrukh Khan extensively when we did the Red Chillies office building in collaboration with Riteish Deshmukh. His cherubic energy, eye for detail and fascination/ease with technology, made us mirror these characteristics in the office space as well. The space hence had dynamic, fluid and adaptable character.
