Spacious and simple, Sand Storm is a no-miss

Amidst the bustle of the city, Sand Storm is a minimalist abode with open simplicity, that is designed keeping in mind the specific needs of its owners. Light and with each element carefully considered, this Mumbai home is the spacious vastness of a sand dune realised.

Offering an open space that is infused with calming vibes, this home and its design is inspired by sand dunes and Brutalism in order to create a home that acts as counter to the chaos of city life. Bhumika Patel and Chitan Patel of Limited Edition Design Studio offer a home that has embraced minimalism with its easy on the eye design that truly soothes the weary city soul.

The designers have achieved their specific design vision for the house and its owners by beautifully allowing for the admittance of substantial amounts of natural light. Bhumika and Chitan point out with pleasure, “this home breaks away from the misconception that wall to ceiling coloured texture tends to create dark, gloomy spaces; even though we have hardly used white surfaces, the apartment is bright and airy.” Instead it is the material palette that is devotedly kept muted, where much of the

surfaces including the wall and ceilings have sandy beige texture finishes. Enough storage space has been provided in each space in lieu of practical concerns. The house has been dubbed ‘Sand Storm’ and the colour palette along with the sheer curtains help create a golden veneer of natural light, where sculptural shapes add to the home’s character and charm. Wooden details, brass accents and clean lines create a luxuriously warm space that is tailor-made to serve as the memory holder for its owner’s nuclear family.
