Man held in Gurgaon SHO ‘abduction’ case

ONE OF the four men allegedly responsibl­e for abducting a Station House Officer (SHO) in Gurgaon over three weeks ago was arrested Saturday night, said police. Police identified the man arrested as Khalid, a resident of Palwal.

The SHO of Sector 29 police station, Surender Phogat, had gone missing on June 30 after he left the station in his private vehicle to attend to some official work at the DCP’S (east) office. He was traced to a location near Kosi Kalan in Uttar Pradesh hours later, after he called his family from there.

On his return, he said he had been abducted after he stopped his vehicle a few km from the station to confront “four suspicious men” who were standing by the road and observing passing cars.
