Get ready to hit back at rivals: Kerala CPM leader

- SHAJU PHILIP

CPM STATE secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Sunday urged party workers to get ready to physically hit back at rivals.

Balakrishnan said this in a speech at public meeting in Payyanur in Kannur district, which was rocked by two political murders in a span of three hours earlier this month. CPM had lost a local leader, Danarajan, in the attack that was allegedly carried out by BJP workers.

Addressing the meeting, Balakrishnan said, “Every region should have a system to counter the attack from rivals. We should ensure that those who come to attack us do not return from our region. For this, the party should gain strength in every region. Young men and women should be given necessary physical training.”

He, however, added: “There should not be any attack on houses and business establishments.”

Balakrishnan did not spare the police, controlled by his party colleague and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

“In the Danarajan murder case, the police are with the culprits. They should rectify their stand. Police should bring to book the higher leadership of the BJP and RSS who had planned the murder,” he said.
